1. Betting Any 7 - You'll often find craps players betting on "Any 7." The odds on Any 7 bets pays out at 4/1. The chances of you actually landing the bet are 5/1. Do the math and you'll see that it's just not worth it.
2. Betting The Field - As tempting as it is to bet the field, because it gives you lots of numbers to win on and the payouts can be fairly attractive, there are a few cautions. For starters, you lose money much faster on this bet, and for every 16 winnings bets there will be 20 losing results. Numbers 6, 7, and 8 come up more often and they won't win you any money on this bet. Nor do 5 and 9 (the fourth most frequent results).

4. Big 6 And Big 8. - These bets pay only even money, despite the fact that they work much the same way as Place Win bets on 6 and 8. Go for the Place Bets instead - they pay 7/6 odds. To put it another way: the house edge on Place Bets for 6 and 8 is only 1.52%, while Big 6 and Big 8 it's 9.1%.
5. Hardways - Beware the Hardways bet - they don't call it hard for nothing. A Hardways bet on 4 or 10 has odds of 7/1 and a house edge of 11.11%. Hardways bets on 6 or 8 are 9/1 with a house edge of 9.09%. There easier bet to make.
You Win IF...
Pass Line Bets: If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the first roll, or if the shooter establishes a point by rolling 4,5,6,8,9, or 10 and then rolls that same number again before rolling a 7.
Place Bets On 6 or 8: If either a 6 or 8 (depending on what number you're betting on) is rolled before the 7.
Conclusion: Craps is best played with patience. The Pass Line bet and the Place bet for 6 or 8 will stand you in good stead over the long haul. Because of the low house advantage, these are two of the best bets you're likely to make.
